Ifd like to share a testimony of a 47 year old man, Mr. S.,
as recorded by M. Chapel
This past summer, Mr. S planned to
commit suicide in Sapporo and he took a 5 day walk all the
way from a city called Rumoi, carrying a rope to hang himself.
When
he got to Sapporo, he couldn't go through with the suicide
and he ended up living on the street.
One day, Mr. S received
a PFL book distributed by M. Chapel that is located close to
where he was. Mr. S read it over and over again.
Many days passed without any food and finally he reached
a point where he was starving to death. He prayed for the
first time and said to God, "If you really exist,
please provide me with something to eat. Then I will not
do such things as stealing which You say You hate." (It
would have been easy for him to steal handbags from drunken
women sleeping in the park.).
On the very same night that he prayed, a stranger approached
him with food and told him to eat it. It was also the first
time for him to receive food from strangers while living
on the street; so he was amazed and he prayed again and
thanked God.
On another day, it started to rain while he was reading
the PFL book. Then he prayed to God again and said, "God,
I would like to read this book just a bit longer. Would
you please stop letting the rain fall for a short while?" Then,
the rain stopped.
As he read the PFL book again, he prayed alone as "I
will let God to take control of my life" which he
read in the middle of the book..
Ever since that time, his desire has been to remove the
desire to commit suicide from his heart.
A while later, he realized that the rope he had in his
dirty backpack for hanging himself had disappeared.
He felt that no one would want to touch such a filthy
bag which belongs to a homeless guy, so there's no way
someone would have taken it from that bag. It might be
God who took it away from my bag? he wondered. At this
point, his PFL book was all worn-out.
Soon after he received God into his life, the owner of
a dorm approached him.
The owner told him to live in the dorm and get started
on applying for receiving welfare and support from a hospital.
The dorm was located very close to our church. He came
to our church and told us all that had happened to him.
He prayed the same prayer this time, with us. He is truly
rejoicing, thanking Jesus and living a Christian life and
now preparing for baptism.
He now cleans the church and mows the lawn with a rejoicing
heart and truly glorifying God as he lives his life.
