| "What
is that book?" I've seen the advertisements of Power For
Living on the train, TV commercials over and over, but had no
idea what this book is all about. I often heard people around
me saying "What is that book?" from Christians and
non-Christians regardless. And then one day I saw Power For Living
books sitting at my own church. I read it and was surprised at
what this Power For Living book is all about. I also put some
of them on my bicycle and took them home. One day, as I was visiting
one of my piano studentfs home for a lesson, I said to him, "Ifll
leave one for you. Please read it if you like". Although
I said it, I was thinking that he will not read it since he admits
and also others admit that he is a Buddhist. Yet, when I visited
his home the next week, he said to me, "I'm reading that
book you gave me" and that really surprised me. He usually
is a really positive and energetic person, yet not on the day
I visited him the next week. There was some trouble at his work
and that was causing him to be unlike his usual self. I was shocked
to see him all tired and burned out like that. He always says, "We
are all children of God and no one is a sinner", yet on
this day he said "I am filled with sinfulness". All
of a sudden I had to tell him, gMr. W, you know we can pray to
God." And I continued. When we Christians pray, we pray
in Jesus' Name. Our prayers wouldn't be able to reach God if
there was no death on the cross by Jesus Christ, Who paid the
wages for our sins. I talked to him about faith for a while and
then asked him if hefd like to pray with me. He bowed his head
down, crossed his hands together, and repeated this prayer after
me, "I believe Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected
to pay the wages of my sins and I receive him into my life".
The Holy Spirit was working there richly. Before I asked Mr.
W, he said to me, "Ifve been thinking about going to church." The
next day, Mr. W came to church with a brightened up face, so
opposite from yesterday. Joy overflowed from my heart for the
fact that I was able to be at the service with him. Ever since
I started to teach piano for Mr. W, I was praying for his salvation,
but so surprised to see it happened so quickly.
You know the saying, "Four months between planting and
harvest." But I say, wake up and look around. The field
is already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages,
and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life.
What joy awaits both the planter and harvest alike!
